Welcome to Planáil (“we”, “our”, “us”).
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our lesson planning platform (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. What the Service Does
Our Service helps teachers generate lesson plans using artificial intelligence (AI) based on:
- Curriculum selections
- Class-level context (e.g. class size, ability, learning needs)
- Additional information you provide
The Service is designed to assist planning — it does not replace professional judgement.
2. Who Can Use the Service
You must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be using the Service in a professional or educational context
- Provide accurate account information
Accounts are for individual use only (not shared across multiple users).
3. Subscription and Payment
- The Service is provided on a paid subscription basis
- Fees are charged monthly (including VAT where applicable)
- Payments are processed via a third-party provider (e.g. Stripe)
- You can cancel your subscription at any time; access continues until the end of your billing period
- We may change pricing with reasonable notice
4. Acceptable Use (Very Important)
You agree NOT to input any personal data about students or individuals, including:
- Names
- Initials
- Addresses
- Dates of birth
- Medical or psychological diagnoses linked to identifiable individuals
- Any information that could identify a student
You must only provide class-level summaries, such as:
- “2 students with dyslexia”
- “mixed ability class”
- “EAL learners present”
You are fully responsible for ensuring that no personal data is entered into the Service.
5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
The Service uses AI models (including providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic) to generate lesson plans.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that:
- AI-generated content may contain errors or omissions
- Outputs may not always be accurate, complete, or suitable
- The Service does not guarantee curriculum compliance or educational suitability
You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving all generated content before use.
We provide the Service as a support tool only.
6. No Professional or Educational Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not responsible for how lesson plans are used in the classroom
- We are not liable for educational outcomes, inspection results, or teaching performance
- We do not guarantee that plans meet school, inspectorate, or curriculum standards
7. Your Content
You retain ownership of:
- Information you input
- Lesson plans generated for you
However, by using the Service, you grant us permission to:
- Store your inputs and generated plans
- Use this data (in anonymised and aggregated form) to:
- Improve the Service
- Improve AI outputs
- Enhance system performance
We will not use your data to identify you or your students.
8. Data Processing & AI Providers
To provide the Service:
- Your inputs are processed by our systems hosted in the European Union
- We use third-party AI providers (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic) to generate outputs
By using the Service, you consent to:
- Your inputs being securely processed by these providers
- Data being transferred to these providers for processing
We take reasonable steps to ensure data is handled securely and in line with GDPR.
9. Data Storage
- Lesson plans and inputs may be stored on our systems (Supabase, hosted in the EU)
- You can access and manage your saved plans within the platform
- We retain data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service
10. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.
However:
- No system is completely secure
- You use the Service at your own risk
11. Account Responsibility
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login details secure
- All activity on your account
We may suspend or terminate accounts if:
- These Terms are breached
- Misuse is detected
12. Service Availability
We aim to provide a reliable service, but:
- The Service may be unavailable at times (maintenance, outages, third-party failures)
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted access
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
We are not liable for:
- Indirect or consequential losses
- Loss of data
- Loss of income or business
- Educational or professional outcomes
Our total liability (if any) is limited to the amount you paid in the last 12 months.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your access if:
- You breach these Terms
- You misuse the Service
- Required by law
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
If we do:
- We will notify you via the platform or email
- Continued use means you accept the updated Terms
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland.
Any disputes will be handled in Irish courts.
